Evaluation Coordinator, Office of Institutional Research & Planning

Trinity College, Hartford, CT

Trinity College seeks an Evaluation Coordinator to administer an ongoing systematic evaluation of Trinity’s several initiatives for increasing its engagement with the neighborhoods around the College.  The coordinator both conducts research and coordinates and facilitates evaluations done by others.  The evaluation focuses on how the college’s urban initiatives are affecting both the neighborhood and the college, with an emphasis on assessing strengths and weaknesses and how the initiatives can be improved.  The coordinator must work with administrators, faculty, and students on campus and with community organizations and neighborhood residents.  The coordinator reports to the Director of Institutional Research and Planning but also works closely with the Director of Urban Initiatives.  Initial funding is for three years with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities include assuming a leading role in the design and implementation of the evaluation, providing day-to-day administration of the evaluation program, preparing regular evaluation reports and other publications, and giving presentations related to the initiatives’ progress and outcomes.  The coordinator will be involved in disseminating findings and methods to audiences beyond the college and neighborhood, through presentations and publications. The coordinator leads an evaluation committee comprised of faculty, educational administrators, and other evaluation researchers.  Field work, informal feedback to initiatives and college administrators, and the circulation of information among initiatives are essential aspects of the position.  The position also involves the design, collection, and analysis of surveys, administrative records, and other forms of quantitative data.

Strong team-building and administrative skills are required, as well as ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with various campus constituencies and community leaders.  The position necessitates diplomacy and interpersonal sensitivity.  Fluency in Spanish is preferred.

An advanced degree in a relevant field is required; PhD preferred.  Candidates must have demonstrated skills in ethnographic and other qualitative data collection and analysis.  Competence in quantitative data collection and analysis is desired.  Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary.  Because of the multifaceted and evolving nature of the programs, the evaluation coordinator will have to be creative in designing and implementing unconventional but rigorous modes of evaluation and reporting.

Starting salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience; excellent benefits.  The position is available immediately.  Applications will be accepted until the position is filled; however, to ensure a thorough review, materials should be received by July 31.  Please submit a resume, cover letter stating salary requirements, and the names, titles, and telephone numbers of three professional references to Donna D. Willson, Director of Human Resources, Trinity College, 300 Summit Street, Hartford, Connecticut 06106.
