AGENCY FUNCTION:
Hartford Hospital is a comprehensive medical center offering health
services and teaching programs to the health professions.
INTERN ACTIVITIES:
1.
Dept. of Medicine (Epidemiology): Student
may study aspects of hospital-acquired infections, infectious diseases or
antibiotic therapy utilizing prospective or retrospective data-gathering,
inferential or statistical analysis and possible contact with patients, Employee
Health Service, computers and/or Medical Records. Lab work is possible.

2.
Dept. of Emergency Medical Services/Trauma: Interns work with the
department’s Research Coordinator, Rosanne Papa, and will be supervised by the
EM Research Director, Dr. Robert Grant. Student
will work primarily in the Emergency Department at Hartford Hospital enrolling
patients into ongoing studies. Time
permitting, the student will also be assigned a specific project to work on and
complete during the internship, again, under the guidance of Ms. Papa and/or Dr.

3. Psychology:
The Psychology Department is involved in a program of research concerned
with the assessment of cognitive and behavioral impairments following closed
head injury, with secondary interests in the assessment of impairments resulting
from other neurological disorders. Specific projects involve the development of
new assessment techniques and a search for predictors of functional outcome. The
work of students may involve computer use, data analysis, and there is potential
for patient contact. Student from Psychology or Biology are preferred but others

4.
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry: Special
Education at the Grace S. Webb School (Hartford) or the Webb School at Cheshire
(in Cheshire, CT). Interns will
work with severely disturbed students in a clinical/educational setting.
Internships range from classroom assistants to individually tailored
experiences from 8:30-2:15 during the school year of summer session.
