AGENCY FUNCTION: Community-based neighborhood organization; serves as vehicle for residents to come together to identify common problems and organize to achieve solutions.

INTERN ACTIVITIES:

1. Research into housing rehabilitation, arson, innovative approaches to preventing crime, tax reform, etc.

2. Organizing assistant to help get meetings of residents together on neighborhood problems. SPANISH HELPFUL BUT NOT NECESSARY.

3. Coordination assistance with community schools project, including parental empowerment and alternative programming.

4. Assistance in the organizing areas of welfare reform, car insurance, homeowners insurance, quality of life issues, public safety, youth development.

HOURS PER WEEK: 8-15
