AGENCY FUNCTION: Works to improve the quality of education and to improve student performance in 166 school districts. Department is involved in programs in early childhood education, parental involvement and education, student academic assessment, accountability, teacher support and training, adult education, and school-to-work transition. Also supervises 17 regional vocational-technical high schools. The Communications Office provides information to news media and citizens, develops materials for presentations, publications and broadcast, and maintains communication with school districts and education groups.

INTERN ACTIVITIES: Intern will develop and produce a video on child development to be given to new parents at the hospital. Intern will also assist with special projects, including fact sheets, brochures, press releases, reports and radio/TV announcements.
