AGENCY FUNCTION: 

Conning Asset Management: Provides asset management and research for the insurance industry, including portfolio management, investing private equity in insurers and insurance service companies, and providing proprietary research on both publicly traded and closely-held insurance concerns to institutional investors and industry professionals. 

Conning Research & Consulting: Produces in-depth strategic research on trends and drivers of change in the insurance industry, including forecasts, segment outlooks and strategic issues analysis. Publishes and sells publications in print and on-line to insurance companies, consulting and advisory organizations.

INTERN ACTIVITIES:

Asset Management: Duties include interfacing with portfolio managers to help them quantify various analytical components of fixed income portfolios. Through the use of proprietary investment software systems, the intern will assist in gathering data, updating information for securities and running tests to evaluate the risk of interest rate movements as they pertain to portfolio holdings. Internship offers a unique insight into the front office of an asset manager. Skills needed: Windows, Excel, Bloomberg, financial knowledge, math.

Research & Consulting: Market research (70%) – prospect list development of research industry executives, information specialists, market research departments; research information, complete missing data. Product research (30%) – support research efforts with expanded web searches, data collection, survey support, graphic and text development. Good computer skills desirable, including web navigation, Access, Excel, computer graphics.

HOURS PER WEEK:  8-16  (37.5 in summer)
