The Cove Center for Grieving Children SUMMER, FALL, SPRING. Established in 1995, its mission is to offer support services to children/families who have lost a loved one to death. Also offers training to professionals and organizations who work with kids. Central office is in Meriden, with 8 support group sites throughout the state. Interns needed in the following areas: Non-profit business management and Fund Development & Marketing/Fundraising: attend meetings, design/administer/coordinate programs, other duties as needed; Counseling - with staff supervision (fall and spring only): participate in running/facilitating support groups. Hartford Hospital, Integrated Medicine Dept. - Art for Healing Program SPRING, SUMMER, FALL. Program is part of a new philosophy that integrates complementary therapies into Western medical practice. Intern will create/facilitate art experiences for patients and clients, with the goal of understanding the individual's perceptions and needs, and the effects of the visual form on patients/clients. YWCA of the Hartford Region Sexual Assault Crisis Service SPRING, SUMMER, FALL. A crisis intervention and advocacy service, with two 24-hour hotlines, one in English and one in Spanish. Agency provides short-term counseling services to victims and family members, and advocacy within the court, police, medical system for sexual assault victims. Intern will be involved with counseling, advocacy, community education/outreach, administrative duties and special projects.
