Science Center of Connecticut SPRING. Founded in 1927 as the Children's Museum of Hartford, this not-for-profit's mission is to be a catalyst for science inspiration and learning for children aged 12 and younger. The Center has engaging interactive exhibits, a live animal sanctuary, planetarium, pre-school and nature center. Intern needed to help with project to investigate/plan/implement a high level customer service initiative. Student will be involved in research to gather information on how other organizations and for-profit businesses approach customer service, through internet searches, phone conversations, email surveys and site visits to nearby organizations. Stanley-Whitman House FALL, SPRING, SUMMER. A history museum which preserves, collects and interprets early New England history (1640-1810). Intern needed to catalogue objects with new database software (including digitized images), photograph objects, unpack collection and shelve, organize newly-built collection storage room. Archdiocese of Hartford Archives SUMMER, FALL, SPRING. The purpose of the Archives of the Archdiocese of Hartford is to collect, preserve and make available for research the official and ancillary records which reflect the work of the Catholic Church. Areas of involvement for the intern(s): database design - for archives holdings, photographs, blueprints, list of pastors by parish, parish deeds, accessions; news clippings; genealogical research - using microfilm reader, conduct searches of sacramental records for patrons and others; photography collection - conduct an inventory of framed photos.
