Footlights, Inc. (Center for Performing Arts) FALL, SPRING. Non-profit, after school performing arts program for Hartford teens. Footlights offers free classes in dance, music, drama and visual arts. Footlights needs a front office administrative assistant 2:30 - 5:30 p.m., 4 days per week. Duties include clerical and computer work as well as interacting with teens in a creative and artistic environment. Great opportunity to interact with Hartford area corporate executives, foundations, public schools, and those within the non-profit sector. Hartford Children's Theatre SPRING, SUMMER, FALL. Hartford Children's Theatre runs a mainstage season of theatre for family audiences and drama classes for students in preschool through high school. Internships will be tailored as much as possible to the student's own interests. Some possible projects include: assistaing a drama class, serving on the backstage crew for a production, and serving as assistant to the Executive Director, Education Director, Grants and Outreach Manager, or Office Manager. Sankofa Kuumba Cultural Arts Consortium SUMMER, FALL, SPRING. Non-profit organization whose mission is to research/teach traditional and other Black African diaspora art forms (such as dance, music, drumming) through reading, storytelling, story writing and dance. develop the arts in after-school programs in Hartford public school system. Prefer visual or performing art, education or business -oriented majors, but anyone may apply. Intern can choose area in which to work: research: researching other non-profits and grants, data from schools; teacher assistant: various duties during after-school sessions (handing out snacks, teaching, taking attendance); administration: update performance calendar, assist with event/presentation planning; dance: learn and teach traditional dance forms. Internships available in two areas: Management/Production: assisting in preparation for auditions, rehearsals, performances, planning for hospitality for touring productions, preparing volunteer newsletters, manuals, inventorying technical equipment/supplies, maintaining/supporting IT systems, and other duties as required, including assisting at performances, attending meetings, assisting with lighting/sound boards.
