Faculty Positions in the History Department

 

Early Modern and Modern Japan.  Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut, a selective liberal arts college, seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Japanese history starting in the fall term of 2004.  Candidates with interests in women’s history, economic history and cultural studies are especially invited to apply, but all applications from specialists in the Edo and Modern period will be welcomed.  Teaching responsibilities will include a two semester survey of early, early modern and modern Japanese history, a historiography course based on Japanese materials, and specialized seminars covering a spectrum of topics.  The successful candidate will be expected to play an active role with the Asian Studies major and the International Studies Program.  Women and members of minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply.  Trinity College is an Affirmative action/Equal Opportunity employer.  Selected candidates will be interviewed at the AHA meeting in Washington, DC in January, 2004.   Candidates should send a resume, letter of interest, dossier, and three letters of recommendation to Professor Michael Lestz, Japanese Search Chair, History Department, Trinity College, Hartford, CT 06106.   Application will be accepted until March 1, 2004.      For more information about the Department, applicants may visit our Website at: http:///www.trincoll.edu.
