Cost and Financial Aid

cash

The cost of studying away is usually comparable to the cost of studying at Trinity College for a semester. In addition to tuition, room, and board, however, students must pay for round-trip transportation to and from their program, passport and visa fees, and local transportation fees. Students can find information about estimated costs for their program by their program adviser or provider.

Students will also need funds to cover living expenses that they have here in Hartford, such as laundry, postage, snacks, and entertainment.

Note that students who wish to travel and go out a great deal should plan to bring additional funds to cover these costs.

Students who study on a non-Trinity approved program will be billed a study away fee. Please contact the Office of International Programs at 860-297-2005 for the current fee. It is billed through the regular College billing process, but is not levied for Trinity-run or sponsored programs. The fee must be paid before the student may transfer credit from a study away program and prior to his or her subsequent registration at Trinity. This fee covers administrative costs, and is billed through the College. Students who attend Trinity programs or Trinity affiliate programs are not assessed this fee. The fee is not charged for any summer programs.

Students who receive financial aid from or through Trinity College can use their aid for participation on an approved study away program. Students who receive aid are advised to meet with the Financial Aid office staff early in the process. Note that some study away programs offer financial aid and scholarships to students that are separate from what students are already receiving. Students should check with their program provider for more information.
