It is crucial that students adhere to the deadlines
outlined below and in the Guidelines for Study Away (available in
the OIP, 66 Vernon Street). Failure to do so will compromise
students’ eligibility to study away.
Applying for study away is a
multi-step process:
Before November 30, 2007,
students who wish to study away in 2008-2009 must:
· Attend
a study away information session or schedule a meeting with an
adviser in the OIP for general advising.
· Research
approved programs and select one program and one alternate per study
away term.
· Meet
with your faculty advisor about your study away plans to discuss
what courses you should take before you go, while you study away,
and upon your return.
By December 9, 2007, students
who wish to study away in 2008-2009 must:
· Submit
a Request for Approval to Study Away for 2008-2009 to the Office of
International Programs in order to gain approval from the College to
study away. (Faculty recommendations are also due by December 9 –
they may be handed in with the Request or sent to the OIP directly
by faculty.)
· Submit
a Petition for a Non-Approved Program with the Request, if you wish
to apply for approval to study away on a non-approved program.
By late January 2008:
· You
will be notified by mail whether or not they have been approved to
study away, to which program(s) you have been approved to apply, and
for which study away term(s) you have been approved.
· You
must then submit an application to study away on the programs for
which you have been approved. This is separate and additional from
the request to study away.
See important notes below for more details.
Before April 2008:
· If
you decide that you no longer wish to study away during the
2008-2009 academic year, this is deadline to withdraw your request
to study away and remain eligible to participating in the spring
housing lottery near the end of the spring 2008 semester.
(Following the housing lottery, you may still withdraw, but you will
not be able to participate in the housing lottery and will be
unlikely to get on-campus housing or housing in CCI.)
Before May 1 2008 (fall or full
year) or November 15 2008 (spring study away):
· If
you are studying on a non-Trinity program, you must submit a copy of
your program acceptance letter to the Office of International
Programs.
· By
this date, you must submit an Application for Transfer Credit with
the Office of the Registrar (for more information, go to the
Registrar’s website)– students studying at Trinity’s Rome Campus
or on the PRESHCO program do not need to complete this form.
Before your return to campus
after studying away:
· You
MUST submit a study away program evaluation that is required by
Trinity College. This evaluation is separate from any program
evaluation you may have had to complete. The evaluation is mandatory
and a hold will be placed upon your transcript until this evaluation
has been submitted. It is available at
http://internet2.trincoll.edu/TCSurveys/INTL
· You
must file any changes to your Application for Transfer Credit with
the Registrar’s Office.
Important
Notes
· Students
are responsible for applying to the programs on which they have
College approval to study away. Applications to programs are
separate from the Request for Approval to Study Away. Students
should submit program applications directly to the program provider
(Trinity or other college, university, or organization that
administers the program) well before the indicated program deadline.
Because programs are competitive and often fill up well in advance
of published deadlines, the OIP asks that students who wish to study
away for the Fall or Full Year apply no later than March 1 to their
programs and students who with to apply to study away in Spring
apply no later than September 15. Some program deadlines, especially
to colleges and universities in the UK and Australia may be
considerably earlier. Any program that has an earlier application
must receive your application by the indicated deadline.
· Approval
by Trinity College to apply to study away does not guarantee
admission or acceptance to any program. Students must ensure that
they adhere to program application deadlines and meet all program
eligibility requirements.
