Moscow as a Learning Laboratory

hile in Moscow, all students study the
Russian language at their own level, with a view to improving communication skills. Individualized attention and daily involvement in Russian life aid in rapid learning of the
spoken language.
Students engage in internships in Moscow organizations or businesses. They discuss the internships at weekly meetings, where their experiences are evaluated in the context of
their life and academic work.
Students also come together to form an Internet club, where they post their observations and digital pictures on the club's web
site. The Internet club, the seminar/supper,
and the internship discussions allow students
to analyze and synthesize the knowledge they gain both inside and outside the classroom.
At the end of the semester, the group will spend two weeks in St. Petersburg. This trip
is timed to allow students to experience the romance of Petersburg's White Nights, when the sun shines in this far northern city 24 hours a day. Students also participate in a wide array of athletic and cultural activities, including Moscow's rich and unique night life, with its music, theater, ballet,
circus, dancing, restaurants, and club scene.
