Republican primary exit poll
Obama won all the attendance categories handily, from 67 percent of the
More-than-weeklies to 54 percent of the Few-times-per-years. He won
Protestants 51 percent to 44 percent and lost Catholics, narrowly, 48
percent to 45 percent. White Catholics voted for Clinton by larger margins,
56-36 and 48-41 respectively. Jews split 60-40 in her favor.
Huckabee won only the More-than-weeklies, by 55 percent to 32 percent.
All other attendance groups voted for McCain by healthy margins (even the
Weeklies, 50-37). Evangelicals, constituting 34 percent of voters, went for
Huckabee, but only by 50 percent to 36 percent, far short of sufficient
given McCain’s dominance of the non-evangelicals by 65 percent to 19
percent. McCain prevailed over Huckabee among Protestants (including Other
Chirstians) by 51 percent to 35 percent, and among Catholics by 60 percent
to 22 percent.
