The 3rd Annual Relay for Life at Trinity College was dedicated to the memory of Lisa Nestor, a beloved teacher in the chemistry department who succumbed to cancer in the summer of 2007.  Her loss was felt by the entire campus, and Relay for Life was a perfect time to review her memories and what she meant to each person within the Trinity College community.

This yearŐs event hosted 40 different teams who collectively raised $43,483 toward the fight of cancer and toward the hope of all those who have come into contact, directly and indirectly, with this disease.  Trinity College raised approximately $1700.00 as a group toward this total with 15 official members signed up for the relay.  In the end, approximately 23 people represented TCS during the activities.

Special thanks go to Katharine Spencer for her unfailing energy and work to help make this event successful, not just for TCS, but for the campus as a whole.  Although not an official member of the event committee, KatharineŐs unflagging dedication and untold hours aiding in the planning and running of Relay for Life were recognized, and appreciated by all.  KatharineŐs support continued during the event as she was present at the track for the entirety of the relay and walked for 10 hours!!!  Her dedication was unmatched by any of the participants in 2008.

TCS as a group revealed the strength and conviction of our student participants.  Throughout the event, at least 3 team members were present walking at all times.  From the hours of 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM, TCS was the only team on the track.  Their spirits never wilted, and their conviction toward helping to fight cancer grew with every step around the 400 meter oval.

The faculty within the Chemistry Department are all extremely proud of the students within the Trinity Chemical Society Club.  Their work ethic, dedication, and optimism helps create an atmosphere of family and love that carries everyone through tough times, and shows that life should always be lived to its fullest with everyone helping in that endeavor.

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HARD WORK TCS!!!
