As part of a new "multicultural complex" on Vernon Street, Trinity College has opened a $2.5 million Hillel House. In October, 1999 Trinity College received a gift of $2 million from alumnus and Trustee Henry Zachs ('56) towards the construction of the Hillel House. According to past President Evan Dobelle, this new Hillel House "will serve not only as a place where our students can come together to learn more about and celebrate their faith but also as a place of understanding and community building for members of the entire Trinity family."
Faculty, students, administrators, and lay leaders have been working with Trinity's architects to develop this magnificent facility which has over 4,000 square feet of usable space, including a kosher kitchen, a prayer area, study spaces, meeting rooms, and a library.
The Zachs Hillel House opened in November, 2001.
