[The following is an example of the letter a Trinity administrator will send to notify a user of a violation that has been traced back to their specific machine or IP address. It is to be used only as a reference.]
Sample Letter: Dear Student,
The Computing Center has been notified that you have illegal copies of music files on FastTrack, including, but not limited to:
Blur-Song_2.mp3 Blur-Crazy Beat.mp3
This is in violation of the Regulations for the Use of Computing, Communications and Video Systems at Trinity College, a copy of which can be found at:

Please delete these files or prove that you have a license to share these files immediately. If I do not receive a reply to this message within 72 hours, I will be forced to shut down your network connection and account indefinitely until the matter is resolved. If you need assistance to complete this request please contact the Student Help Desk at extension 2007 or via email at consultants@trincoll.edu. Continued disregard for the College's regulations may result in further disciplinary action.

Specifically, we request that you remove the site or delete the infringing sound files or that you disable access to this site or the infringing files being offered via your system. In addition, please inform the site operator of the illegality of his or her conduct and confirm with us, in writing, that this activity has ceased. You should understand that this letter constitutes notice to you that this site operator may be liable for the infringing activity occurring on your server. In addition, under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, if you ignore this notice, you and/or your company may be liable for any resulting infringement. This letter does not constitute a waiver of any right to recover damages incurred by virtue of any such unauthorized activities, and such rights as well as claims for other relief are expressly retained.
