Setting Up and Using Microsoft Entourage: MAC v10.4

Introduction

Electronic mail, or "e-mail," has become an indispensable tool for intra- and inter-office communication. It allows computers to send messages to people all over the world, as well as Trinity students, faculty and staff. Entourage is used in reading, storing, and sending e-mail messages over the Internet and it is designed for Macintosh users. These pages provide information on how to set up Entourage for your use.

E-mail Accounts and Passwords

Both faculty and staff should know their NT account, password, and e-mail address. If you don't already have this info please call the 2100 Help Desk.

Part I: Configuring Entourage

Before you can get your Trinity email using Entourage you must configure it properly with your personal information. The following steps should demonstrate how to setup the program for basic email use.

When you open the Entourage you should be able to find Tools in the main menu on the top of the program. Under the Tools menu select Accounts. Following window will open for you. If you have used Entourage before to receive some other email, you might see email accounts listed in this window, but if you have never used it the list will be empty.

Click on the drop-down arrow to the right of the New button and select Exchange from the drop-down menu.

The Account Setup Assistant should appear, which should look like the screen below.

At this point, select the Configure account manually button on the bottom left of the screen.

  1. First enter the Account name.  The account name can be anything that will remind you that this is account for Trinity email.

  2. In the field labeled Account ID enter your username.

  3. In the field labeled Password, enter the password you use to check your email.

  4. For the Domain, enter cmpcntr.

  5. The next line asks for the Exchange server name: enter https://webmail.trincoll.edu

  6. In the Name line, simply enter your name the way you want it to be displayed by Entourage.

  7. Lastly, enter your email address in the field named E-mail address.  This is usually in the form firstname.lastname@trincoll.edu.

After all the fields on the Account Settings tab have been filled out properly, click on the Advanced tab at the top of the window.

  1. First you need to specify the server in the text field labeled LDAP server, which in this case is wldap.trincoll.edu

  2. Make sure the box labeled This server requires me to log on has been checked on.

  3. Make sure the box labeled Override default LDAP port has been checked on and is set to 389.

  4. Finally, in the text field labeled Search base: you must insert the following line: dc=cmpcntr, dc=tc, dc=trincoll, dc=edu
