VPN Client Configuration for Windows XP ProfessionalTo connect to the VPN server at
Trinity, you need to first make sure that you are connected to the
Internet by dialing in to your ISP, unless you have a dedicated connection to
the Internet (such as DSL) where you don't need to dial. Connecting to the
Internet puts you on the same worldwide Internet backbone where the Trinity VPN server is connected. Then you make a second connection to create a VPN
connection.
To create this second
connection to the Trinity server, follow the procedure described below:
1. Go to Start, Control Panel, Networking and select Make New Connection to start the Network Connection Wizard.. 2. From the Network Connection Type screen, select Connect to the network at my work place, as shown in Figure 1.

wizard. After you have created the new connection open it and go to properties.
Alternatively you can right click on the icon
6. By default, when you'll use this connection, you only have the option to type your user name and password. To add the Domain option, click on Properties and on the Options tab select the box Include Windows logon domain, as shown in Figure 4.

Figure 5 Highlight Advanced 8. By default "Microsoft CHAP Version 2(MS-CHAP v2)" should be selected. Configure your Advanced Security Settings as shown below.

It will come up with a window for your username and password.. Enter your Windows NT user name and password and click on Connect. To log into Trinity’s network you should connect to the CMPCNTR domain.
11. If you are on a dial in connection a window will come up saying “dialing” (don’t worry, it’s not really dialing), “verifying user name and password”, and then “logging on to network” Congratulations, you are now connected to Trinity’s network over the internet. 12. You will not be able to “Browse the network” using the network neighborhood icon, however, you will be able to connect to the various servers on campus. Try this for an example: Go to the Start button and go up to Run. In the Open: Field type \\zep (without the quotes). A window titled “zep” should open. In it you will find Bantam and Classoft (Class Software).
