What is FrontPage?

FrontPage is authoring and publishing software that makes it easy for you to create and maintain world wide web pages. You use FrontPage in much the same way that you use a word processing program: you concentrate on the content of the pages--the text, images, and links you might want--and FrontPage worries about generating the computer code necessary to create what you want.

There are three main parts to FrontPage:

1) FrontPage Explorer
The Explorer is the control center of the FrontPage web-design process.
The Explorer allows you to view the organization of your site--the pages and the links between them.
2) FrontPage Editor
The FrontPage Editor works much like any word processing program. You use a series of menu and button bar commands to create and save the documents you want.

3) A Web Server
The Web Server is the computer you store your final products on. A web server is a computer with special software running on it--software that allows your web page to be accessed by anyone who has a web browser (like Netscape).
