GREETINGS TO PARENTS FROM THE TRINITY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM!
As we approach the end of another busy semester at the College, I am pleased to take this opportunity to remind you about Trinity’s Internship Program, one of the many curricular resources available to your student.
Beginning sophomore year, your son or daughter can undertake an internship in the Greater Hartford area, earning credit toward the degree while gaining valuable skills and “real world” experience. We offer internships in every professional field, from architecture to youth services, and in dozens of Hartford businesses and organizations. A Political Science major can work in the office of Senator Joseph Lieberman, a History major might do research in the archives of Harriet Beecher Stowe or an Engineering major in the laboratories at Pratt and Whitney. Many interns actually get experience outside their major field of study, just to explore something of potential future interest. Thus, we find a Biology major working at the Hartford Insurance Group, or a student of Anthropology interning at Merrill Lynch. The Internship Program can accommodate the learning goals and personal career objectives of any student!
The Internship Office provides a centralized source for information, advising and assistance in all aspects of securing and successfully completing an internship. Please take a look at our website, for a listing of opportunities, general instructions about the Program, and details about the value of internships as part of a liberal arts education.
Internships are a form of independent study and complement a student’s academic program, but they also give our students a terrific head start on the career planning process. Recent national studies have shown that employers prefer job candidates with internship experience, so a Trinity graduate often finds that the first job search goes a little more easily, thanks to an internship in Hartford. The Internship Program puts the resources of the city into the hands, and onto the resumes, of Trinity students.
All the best in this holiday season,
Anne Lundberg
