CIBC Oppenheimer is seeking to hire undergraduates into two groups: High Yield and Investment Banking. Applicants may apply for a position in both groups. Financial analysts work on transaction teams to support senior professionals on a variety of corporate finance assignments. Analysts are involved in all aspects of originating and executing transactions, from preliminary meetings to closings. Specific tasks include financial modeling and analysis, company valuation, company and industry research, preparation of security offerings and presentation materials, visiting company facilities, conducting due diligence and marketing transactions. Analysts interact frequently with senior management of the firms clients.
While the majority of training will be "on the job," financial analysts go through an extensive three-week training program with focused course work in accounting, financial statement analysis, research and valuation techniques.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and should be comfortable working in a complex quantitative environment.
Candidates should also possess a high level of energy and be motivated to produce superior quality work. An undergraduate major in finance, accounting or economics is not a prerequisite for the analyst position, although a strong quantitative background and a familiarity with computer spreadsheets may be helpful.

At any one time, an analyst works on several transactions in teams of two to four professionals. Financial Analyst candidates do not need to be accounting or finance majors, although strong quantitative and computer skills are helpful. The Group
The U.S. Credit Capital Markets Group was established in 1998 through the internal combination of the Loan Products Group and Loan Underwriting and Distribution in an effort to improve our service to clients in corporate lending transactions. Credit Capital Markets analyzes potential borrowers and transactions, develops and structures lending proposals, obtains the necessary credit authorizations, manages the syndication process, negotiates documentation with clients and managers on-going lending relationships. In client relationships were credit is the sole product, Credit Capital Markets also maintains primary responsibility for the client relationship.
The management of lending relationships is organized along industry lines with specific focus on Consumer Services, Public Finance, Financial Institutions, Media and Telecommunications, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Utilities and Project Finance, Transportation, Information Technology, Healthcare and Industrials.
The Analyst Position
Job responsibilities include assisting in analyzing, structuring and documenting new loans for credit related business. Preparing credit reviews/renewals and term sheets. As an Analyst in Credit Capital Markets you will research, analyze and assist in drafting proposal information in conjunction with Associates and Senior Officers. Individuals working in the Credit Capital Markets Group have the opportunity to become fully conversant with aspects of designated accounts. Analysts conduct credit and corporate finance analysis for existing clients and prospects. The Analyst in the CCM Group will follow-up credit related customer queries and customer service related matters not otherwise covered by Administration and act as liason with ACSC. As directed, liase with other units of CIBC Oppenheimer and Risk Management in preparing credit reviews and proposals for clients financing needs. An Analyst in the Credit Capital Markets group is also responsible for organizing presentations to potential clients, and assisting in the development of presentation information.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a comprehensive knowledge of Business Finance Economics demonstrated through outstanding academic achievement in a B.A. program. Excellent analytical ability including demonstrated knowledge of valuation techniques and practices, including cash flow analysis. Unquestionable professionalism, ethics, reputation and strong sense of teamwork is a must. The successful candidate will posses a high level of knowledge of Corporate Finance theory and practice and financial analysis. Experience in preparing and analyzing complex credit applications/proposals and knowledge of corporate credit and accounting principles relating to financial statement preparation and business combinations and all qualifications desired in the CCM Analyst.
