This position is a training position located in a controlled environment where the incumbent develops proficiency in basic claims skills, contract interpretation, and operation of the disability claims system -

in order to begin adjudication of claims.

Four year college degree

Over the course of training, the incumbent is expected to develop a conceptual knowledge of the various Disability Income policies; Business Overhead policies; Buy-Sell policies; and Loss of Earnings contracts offered by the Disability Operations Department.

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; ability to learn and retain knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy; development of a good working knowledge of investigative techniques; ability and willingness to work independently in stressful situations; development of analytical and financial skills, and ability to develop a working knowledge of disability claims system.

None required but related business, financial, legal, medical, psychiatric experience/internships a plus.

To be determined for 1999; currently $29,000 to start entry-level with career path promotional advancements/salary increases every 18-24 months as well as annual merit increases both based on performance.
