Faculty
Services
The
Audio Visual Department offers a wide range of production
services, classroom and instructional support, and workshops. We
also assist in planning events that utilize audio visual equipment
and staff. Faculty are encouraged to contact the department
with any questions on instructional media technology, and
production or event services.
Questions or problems involving classroom audio visual equipment
should be addressed to the Audio Visual Department. Common
classroom instructional equipment includes 35mm slide projectors,
VCRs and video monitors, overhead projectors, computer and video
projectors, audio amplification, and 16mm film projectors. Faculty
who anticipate ongoing needs should contact the department before
the beginning of the semester. All classroom support should be
scheduled a minimum of one week in advance. There is no fee for
audio visual services performed during a regularly scheduled
class. Additional information on classroom services is available
on the Classroom
& Instructional Support page. Equipment available for loan
from the Audio Visual Department is listed on the AV
Equipment Available for Loan page.
The department also offers a wide range of production services in
support of academic endeavors. A list of services is
available on the Production
Services page. Production
services tend to be labor intensive and unique in their
requirements, so please allow a minimum of two weeks for these
services. There is a service fee for most production services,
which varies according to the specifics of the job. Please contact
the department with questions.
Airing Videos on Trinity College Television
In lieu of
spending class time on the viewing of a video, it is possible to
show a tape on Trinity College Television (channel to be determined
pending AT&T assignment). Copyright issues prevent the airing
of certain videos. Address specific questions to the Music and
Media Services Department. TCTV is available in many classrooms,
as well as in viewing sites in the library, and in some student
lounges.
Student Video Projects
Faculty
who plan to have students use video cameras for class projects
should contact the Audio Visual Department before the start of the
semester to arrange proper technical training for their students.
Only students who have completed a workshop or demonstrated
sufficient knowledge may borrow a video camera or use production
equipment. Instructors may arrange in-class training on video
equipment by Audio Visual Department staff by contacting the
department. A minimum of one-week notice is necessary to book
production equipment, and students working on projects should be
encouraged to plan accordingly.
