Classroom
& Instructional Support
The
Audio Visual Department is responsible for the installation and
maintenance of audio visual equipment installed in classrooms on
campus. Traditional audio visual classroom resources include video
playback equipment, slide projectors, overhead projectors, 16mm
movie projection and audio playback systems. Many classrooms are
also equipped with computer and video projection equipment. Less
frequently used, but readily available resources include laserdisc
players, DVD players, record players, and portable cassette
decks.
For
a detailed look at specific classrooms on the Trinity College
campus, the equipment located in each location, and operating
instructions for the audio visual equipment, explore the Classroom
Technology Directory. For a list of teaching spaces grouped by
their resources, go to Classrooms
by Technology.
In certain classrooms, audio visual equipment is secured in a
locked cabinet or console. Faculty or teaching assistants may sign
out a key for use during the semester by stopping by the Audio
Visual Department. Access to computers and audio visual
equipment in closets in MCEC classrooms is available by contacting
Luca Pizzoferrato (MCEC 115, x2106).
Explore the Commonly
Used Classroom AV Equipment page for a description of
equipment installed or available for set up in classrooms. A list
of additional resources that can be picked up at the Audio Visual
Department is provided on the AV
Equipment Available For Loan page.
For room availability, check the Registrar's
Room Assignment page. All classroom reservations must be
processed through the Registrar's Office (for daytime, weekday
use) or the Calendar Office (for use after 4:00 p.m. weekdays, and
on weekends).
Reserving Videotapes and Films
The Music
and Media Services Department (x2191) is in charge of the
college's film and video collection. Their staff can provide
information on how to reserve a video tape for classroom
presentation. If a film is part of the college's collection, it is
requested that one-week advance notice be given. If a film needs
to be ordered from an off campus supplier, a minimum of four weeks
is required to allow for ordering and shipping. Contact Music and
Media Services for more information.
It should be noted that the Audio Visual Department does NOT
deliver videotapes from the library to the classroom. The
responsibility of picking up the tape in the library belongs to
the instructor. The Audio Visual department is responsible for the
playback hardware only.
In lieu of spending class time on the viewing of a video, it is
possible to show a tape on channel (pending). Screening rights
prevent the airing of some videos. Contact the Music
and Media Services Department with questions. TCTV is
available in many classrooms, as well as in viewing sites in the
library, and in some student lounges. Check the Trinity
College Television page for more information.
