Virtual Reserve Reading Room
The Hist. 401-72 Virtual Reserve Reading
Room is provided as an alternative to the college Library's reserve reading service,
especially since our service includes several commuting students, including some across
state lines.
In order to view these files, the
computer you are using should have Adobe Acrobat Reader, version 4. If it
doesn't, and you're using your own computer, you can download
the program for free. If you are using a Trinity College computer (either in the
Library or in the Computing Center, for example), the computer should have the program
already loaded. If it doesn't, then talk to the computer specialists or the librarians.
Once you have the document on your
screen, you should use the Acrobat toolbar to manipulate the document as follows: (a) use
"hand tool" to move around the document by clicking on it and moving the image
with the mouse; (b) use the "magnifying glass tool" to zoom in and out of the
document -- select the tool, then click on the paragraph you want to read; every click
should increase the size of the text; (c) alternatively, you can use the zooming
percentage box at the bottom of the screen, as well as the "vcr-like" arrows to
move forward or backward one page at a time, or to the beginning or end of the document.
