| As
part of history-300 (historiography), here at Trinity, we have been asked to complete a
final project. We have been broken into groups of five or six people. Each
group has been designated a certain topic or era in history to research and report.
My group, consisting of David
Kleiner, Stacy Donnelly,
John O'Brien, Joshua Miller, and Andrew Allan. Our group
has been asked to investigate the impact of the individual on history. When
we were confronted with this assignment, we concluded our best course of action would be
to separate history into dominate mediums, therefore making our work more productive and
congruent. For example, we decided that I would focus on important people in
military and political affairs throughout history. The rest of the group is working
on the following; David is dealing with civil rights in America, Stacy is concentrating on
important individuals in art and the humanities. As for Andrew and John, Andrew is
focusing on medicine and science, and John is investigating the role and impact of the
athlete throughout history. Finally, Josh is going to center his attention on the
role of religious characters in history.
I have decided that the two characters that most influenced society, in the fields
of history and military, were Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Winston Churchill.

I realize that throughout history there are many people
that are equally, if not more, influential than FDR and Churchill; however, focusing on
the the twentieth century there is little question what two military and political leaders
had the greatest impact, Churchill and Roosevelt.
