REU Consortium
Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) are arguably some of the most important experiences students will participate in while obtaining their education. Something that would enhance this experience even further would be to have the possibility to share research ideas, experimental designs, interpretations of data, and to do so in the company of a group of dedicated professors, all of whom also share similar interests and backgrounds. This REU consortium proposes a system of interaction among the students and faculty in the consortium that will work to the benefit of all concerned. All of the faculty in this consortium teach at schools where undergraduate students are the main, and sometimes only, collaborators. All of the faculty have track records of successfully synthesizing unknown organic compounds with undergraduate students doing most if not all the work!!!

This CONSORTIUM will have regular group meetings among a group of like-minded chemists from across the nation, energizing students and professors alike, and leading to a summer learning experience unparalleled anywhere else!

One of the highlights of the summer's activities will be a free trip to " Reaction Mechanisms Conference" to be held at the University of North Carolina from June 24-27, 2008. This will be an excellent opportunity for students to mix with the other students in the TIM-REU as well as to be able to listen to some of the best speakers in the world pertaining to organic synthetic methods.
