Trinity Chemical Society Relay for Life Spring 2007 |
For the second year in a row, the Trinity Chemical Society participated in the Relay for Life-Walk for Cancer. The Relay for Life was a 10 hour walking event that both celbrated Cancer survivors, and raised money to ensure the research in this area may continue at a high leve.
This event, which had a total of 38 participating teams, had hoped to raise approximately $20,000.00 through all participating teams. In the end, the event raised a total of $69,000.00!!! The Trinity Chemical Society, as a team, raised just over $2,000.00 on its own, a valiant effort for a very worthy cause.
With 16 participating members in the Relay, the Trinity Chemical Society kept a minimum of two walkers present on the track at all times, with 4 walkers at a time closer to the norm. There was occasion when up to 12 members were seen walking together at varioius times during the event, making for good participation and group dynamics.
Special thanks go to Katharine Spencer for organizing this event for the team. Thank you Katharine, and way to go team!!!

As evening fell, the support tents were well appreciated and utilized. |
The TCS crew remained large and enthusiastic, even in the darkest part of the evening. |

The combination of walking and dancing turned out not to work real well. |
As the night continued, more students returned to lend support to TCS participants. |

Relay for Life was stopped early this year (around 4:00 AM) due to weather. TCS members continued to circle the track, however, until 6:30 AM. This is a terrific event put on by Trinity College and the TCS is proud to be a participant every year!!! |
The true meaning of the event was never lost upon the large crowd of participants. Hope for a cure for millions of people!!! |
