Maria Silvina Persino

Faculty-in-Residence, Trinity in Buenos Aires

Maria Silvina Persino, pictured above, is the Trinity College Faculty-in-Residence for the Buenos Aires study away program and the primary contact for students on-site. She is in charge of coordinating and overseeing the Trinity in Buenos Aires core course, "Buenos Aires: Human Rights and Cultural Production," as well as internships and independent study projects. She was born in Buenos Aires, received her M.A. from Hebrew University and her Ph.D. in Hispanic Literatures from Boston University. She has been a Hispanic Studies professor at Trinity College since 1998, and became Trinity in Buenos Aires Faculty-in-Residence when the program was founded during the 2009-2010 Academic Year.


IFSA-Butler Staff 

Trinity in Buenos Aires is a "hybrid" study abroad program, and students are supported by both Trinity College faculty based on-site in Argentina and the program staff of the Institute of Study Abroad (IFSA), Butler University.  A well-respected study abroad organization distinguished in part by a commitment to offering academically rigorous and culturally immersive education abroad opportunities in Latin America. Led by long-time Resident Director Mario Cantarini, the IFSA-Butler staff in Buenos Aires complement the academic responsibilities of the Trinity faculty-in-residence by providing student support services throughout the semester. The IFSA staff will make the homestay arrangements, assist with course registration, provide excursionx, and overall support as needed throughout the semester.

IFSA-Butler Program Office

Students have full access to the IFSA-Butler Office, located in the heart of the El Centro (San Nicolas) neighborhood in the Plaza de la Rep├║blica at the intersection of avenues Corrientes and 9 de Julio. The office is just steps away from the Obelisco  (Obelisk), the city's most famous monument built in 1936 to commemorate  400 years since the city's beginnings. Trinity students have access to IFSA-Butler staff, study lounges,a computer lab and other amenities.
