Students are encouraged to make the most of their time in Barcelona by taking advantage of the multitude of options for immersion into the culture and the Trinity staff are more than happy to help students in this pursuit to compliment what is already offered through the program.
The Trinity in Barcelona program has some internship and community engagement options available to highly motivated students with advanced Spanish. These are optional but are for credit, based on approval from the Barcelona faculty.
Please see the Academic section for more details.
Motivated students are encouraged to consider volunteering in some capacity to gain a more in depth perspective on the country and the culture. There are many opportunities available and the Trinity staff can assist students in finding something they are intersted in.
There are several excursions throughout the semester, that are part of the program, to give students a broader perspective and appreciation for Spanish history and culture. They can vary each semester but in the past they have been:
In and around Barcelona:
Barcelona city tour
Walking tour through Barcelona's old town
Guided visit to Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia
Spanish cuisine cooking class
Night of famenco dancing and tapas
Walking tour of the Gracie neighborhood
Away from Barcelona
Weekend trip to the Costa Brava
Monserrat mountain and monastary
Day trip to Girona and the Dali Museum
Joining a gym or sports team not only keeps you fit but it is also a great way to meet Spaniards with a similar interest.
Barcelona has a lot of activities to offer, including kite surfing, beach volleyball, mountain sports, biking, and horseback riding, to name a few.
Students can take advantage of a wide range of sporting activities throught the university. A list is available on the university website at http://www.upf.edu/esports/es/descomptes/#bicimarket
