Study Away Programs

SEMESTER PROGRAMS

Trinity Programs

Trinity College operates 9 semester-long study away programs, located in Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Paris, Port of Spain (Trinidad), Rome, Shanghai, Vienna, and New York City. Each program was developed by Trinity faculty, and all of them have one or more faculty who oversee the academics. They have been intentionally designed to integrate with, and extend, the educational experience that students begin on campus in Hartford.

Trinity programs provide students with outstanding academic experiences that utilize the host cities and cultures, as well as co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities that can be customized to the needs of individual students. Examples include internships, service learning placements, volunteer-ships, and structured social activities, such as playing on a local sports team or participating in organized events with local students or host families.

Details on the Trinity programs can be found here.

Approved External Programs

In addition to the Trinity programs, students can choose from a selection of nearly 90 approved programs. Many Trinity faculty members are knowledgeable about these  programs and regularly serve as a resource to students who have questions.

Approved external programs are selected because they provide academic and extracurricular strengths that complement a Trinity College education. In many cases, approved programs provide opportunities for students to study in areas not available on Trinity College programs.

Information about the approved programs can be found here.

SUMMER PROGRAMS

Trinity Programs

Each summer, Trinity College offers students opportunities to study in Rome and Barcelona. In addition, there is usually a program in Akko, Israel, and a program managed by the Center for Urban and Global Studies that takes students to Asia.

Information about Trinity summer programs can be found here.

Approved External Programs

Students also sometimes study on Approved External study away programs during the summer. The Office of Study Away does not maintain an approved list for summer Approved External programs. Students are instructed to talk to their faculty advisor in advance of committing to a program to ensure that credit will transfer back to the college.
Lindsay Oliver, Summer Programs Advisor in the Office of Study Away, is available to meet with students to go over any concerns that they have and provide general advice.
