Meet the Staff

Lisa Sapolis, Director of Study Away, (860) 297-2436

Lisa received her bachelor’s degree in Russian Area Studies in 1990 from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she graduated magna cum laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She received her master’s degree in education from Boston College in 2004, graduating with distinction with specializations in international education and counseling. Lisa studied abroad for six months in Russia and received a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship to study at University College London in 1991-1992. Lisa has worked previously as a study abroad program coordinator at Iowa State University, from 1994-1999, and as an international study adviser and later assistant director at Boston College, from 1999-2004. She served as an associate director in the Office of Study Away at Trinity from 2004 to 2008. She has traveled to more than 35 countries.

Eleanor Emerson, Program Coordinator, (860) 297-4178

Eleanor received her B.A. from Simmons College in International Relations and Spanish. She studied abroad in Spain for a year and has worked in various global capacities before coming to Trinity, including assisting refugees seeking political asylum, airline reservations and later in the field of educational travel and airline relations. She has travelled to 67 countries on five continents.

Brandon Lussier, Associate Director, (860) 297-2364

Brandon is a former Fulbright scholar and NEA fellow for literary translation.  He has studied at King's College, London, spent his Fulbright year translating literature in Estonia, and received an MFA in creative writing and literary translation from San Diego State University. He was, for four years, Assistant Director of Off-Campus Programs at Hamline University , where he also taught global studies and creative writing courses.

Anne Lundberg, Director of Fellowships and Special Projects,

​As Director of Fellowships and Special Projects, Anne helps students connect study abroad with their post-graduate goals and career planning. She is the campus liaison for a variety of graduate fellowship programs, including the Rhodes, Marshall and Truman Scholarships, and the U.S. Student Fulbright Program. Anne has served on numerous campus committees and planning groups since coming to Trinity in 1985. She was a member of the Hartford Studies Project and taught for seven years in the Cities Program. Outside the College, Anne has represented Trinity in the National Association of Fellowships Advisors, the National Society for Experiential Education, and on the SINA Education Committee. She has served on boards of the Trinity College Community Child Center, the Trinity-Asylum Hill Arts Project, and Leadership Greater Hartford Alumni. She graduated with the class of 1988 from Leadership Greater Hartford. She has also served as a commissioner on the West Hartford Historic District Commission and was a member of the Citizens Network of the Capital Region. Anne holds an A.B. in history from Smith College, as well as graduate degrees from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and Trinity College.
Melissa Scully, Program Coordinator, (860) 297-2005

Melissa joined the Office of Study Away as an Administrative Assistant in Spring 2008. Melissa graduated from Roger Williams University in 2006 with a bachelors of arts in history. Melissa also minored in political science. In the spring of 2005 Melissa studied in Florence, Italy, where she completed a core concentration in Italian studies. Melissa has previously worked with political campaigns in Connecticut and Rhode Island.

​Zachary Macinnes, Outreach Coordinator and Short-Term Programs Advisor, (860) 297-2387

Zachary joined the Office of Study Away in 2014 as the Outreach Coordinator and Short-Term Programs Advisor. Originally from Austin, Texas, Zachary relocated to the East Coast to attend Emmanuel College in Boston, where he received his B.A. in International Relations and Spanish. Zachary first studied abroad in Puebla, Mexico, for a summer program and fell in love with the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. He went on spend a full Academic Year at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, and finally a summer program in Madrid, Spain. Zachary comes to Trinity directly from International Studies Abroad (ISA), a leading third-party study abroad provider, where he worked with a variety of institutions in New England as well as Director of Communications. He has traveled to over 40 countries on six continents, and is currently pursuing an M.A. in Public Policy at Trinity. Zachary is a member of NAFSA: Association of International Educators and the Forum on Education Abroad, and has volunteered his time with several professional-related activities, including the Connecticut Area Study Abroad (CASA) Returnee Conference, the Boston Area Study Abroad Association (BASAA) and the NAFSA Region XI Conference Planning Team.

​Jane Switchenko, Administrative Assistant, (860) 297-2005

Jane was born and spent her early years in the Greater Boston area before living in many different locations throughout the United States.  After attending the University of Nevada, Reno, and later marrying a Connecticut native, she moved back to Massachusetts where she and her husband raised three, now grown, children.  Jane matriculated to Smith College as an educational studies major and later earned a degree in American Studies at Trinity College.   A former competitive figure skater, she belongs to the United States Figure Skating Association, and was a coach and member of the Professional Skaters’ Association for many years.  Jane is the current Outreach & Affirmative Action Director and past Chair of her town Democratic Committee, as well as a state delegate.   Before returning to Trinity and her current position in the Office of Study Away, she worked in the sales & marketing and hospitality fields.  She enjoys travelling abroad, and domestically, whenever time allows.
