Trinity-in-Barcelona Summer Program (4 weeks)
FOUR WEEK PROGRAM: May 18 thru and June 20, 2013

The four week program offers students the opportunity to experience Barcelona in a 4-week, two course summer session. Barcelona, Spain is a unique and cultural city with a varied and intense history. Barcelona has emerged as one of the world's most innovative urban locations and this program will bring the "Barcelona Model" to life through analysis of urban issues throughout the world.
Intensive Language and Culture in Barcelona HISP 227 - One Credit
The Summer Program includes an intensive Spanish course able to be directed toward each students language goals. This course is designed to improve the grammatical and conversational skills of students who have taken some high school or college Spanish. It can also be tailored for students with more intensive language experience to improve on existing skills.
The Alchemy of Identity: Culture, Planning and Civil Society in Barcelona, 1850-2000 HISP 233 - One Credit
This course provide an in-depth analysis of the cultural history of Barcelona over the past century and a half, a time in which the city has emerged as one of the world’s prime laboratories of urban innovation. Students will study the foundations of this innovation and just what the “Barcelona Model” can bring to analyses of urban problems throughout the world.

Students will be able to apply via our new ONLINE application process. Once your application is COMPLETE, you receive notice of your acceptance. There will be a REQUIRED pre-departure meeting at the end of April 2013. Students and parents will receive information regarding accommodations, pre-departure, payment etc. after acceptance. 2013 Comprehensive Fee: $5,250
The fee includes:
- Tuition for two courses (two Trinity College credits)
- Homestay Fees
- Breakfast and dinner with your homestay family
- A single month Public Transport pass for the city of Barcelona
- Program excursions - TBD each summer but include a trip to the coast, bicycle tours, city tours, academic excursions to museums and cultural events!
- HTH Worldwide Health Insurance
The fee does not include travel to and from the program. Students may wish to have additional property insurance.
Any college or university student in good standing is eligible. NON-Trinity applicants must submit an official transcript of their undergraduate record at time of application. Admissions are on a rolling basis. Application deadline: April 1, 2013.
There is NO visa required for US Citizens to travel to and throughout Spain for the four week summer program time. All US and non-US citizens must arrive in Barcelona with a passport valid for at least six months after the program end date. This is a requirement of the EU and not Trinity College.
