Want to Study Away? Here's How to Get Started!

Trinity College is distinguished by a proud tradition of offering students best-in-class study away programs at urban ​​and global locations both domestically and around the world. Over 60 percent of Trinity College students take advantage of a study away opportunity prior to graduation, many more than once.


​Study Away Programs

The College is also distinguished among its peers by the 9 Trinity-administered study away programs that have been developed by Trinity College faculty and have strong ties to the curriculum on campus in Hartford. Trinity Study Away programs offer internships, independent studies, direct enrollment options at local universities and much more:

  • Trinity in Barcelona
  • Trinity in Buenos Aires
  • Trinity in Cape Town
  • Trinity/La MaMa Performing Arts Program in New York City
  • Trinity in Paris
  • Trinity College Rome Campus
  • Trinity in Shanghai
  • Trinity in Trinidad
  • Trinity in Vienna

Additionally, Trinity College students are eligible to participate in over 90+ approved external study away programs in places like Australia, England, Ireland, Germany, Russia and more.


Study Away Process

Students interested in studying away during the 2018-2019 Academic Year should follow the steps outlined below during the Spring 2017 semester.

1.    Attend the Annual Study Away Fair - All students should plan to attend the annual Study Away Fair on Oct. 18, 2017, from 11-2pm in the Washington Room. The Fair is a great opportunity to speak with returned study away students, faculty affiliated with study away, as well as with representatives from the 90+ additional approved external programs.

2.    Complete Study Away Moodle Course - All eligible students with a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.5 are automatically enrolled in a Study Away Moodle course. Interested students must complete all required steps within Moodle prior to meeting with a Study Away Advisor. If you are not enrolled in the Moodle course and think you should be, please contact studyaway@trincoll.edu.

3.    Meet with a Study Away Advisor – Once students have completed the Moodle requirement, they should meet with a Study Away Advisor. To schedule an appointment, please visit the OSA online scheduling system.

4.    Submit a Request to Study Away - Students interested in studying away on a semester program during the 2018-2019 Academic Year are required to submit a Request to Study Away. Request to Study Away applications will be due on December 15, 2017.


Summer and J-Term Study Away

Additionally, Trinity College is pleased to offer a variety of study away options outside the regular Academic Year. The following is a tentative list of study away programs that will be offered during January and Summer 2018 terms:

•    January Term Study Away – Trinidad and Paris.

•    Summer Study Away – Rome, Barcelona, China and Akko, Israel.

Please note: students interested in Summer and J-Term study away do NOT have to submit a Request to Study Away. For more information, please contact the Office of Study Away.
