The Trinfo.Cafe provides a variety of programs for both the Trinity and Hartford community. The programs designed for the Hartford community provides a host of services and computer training opportunities. Trinity students are integral to Trinfo.Cafe's operations and its programs. Without their assistance, the Trinfo.Cafe could not support its community development or its academic efforts.
Computer Literacy and Professional Development Training Workshops
Trinfo.Café offers a broad range of training workshops under two distinct tracks - personal and professional development. The personal development series offers basic computer literacy workshops in English and Spanish to Hartford residents who lack access to or have little experience with computers. The professional development series focuses on bolstering the resumes of participants by offering training workshops that meet or exceed the national IC3 technology standards in Microsoft Office.
For more information about these workshops, please visit http://www.trinfocafe.com/revision/htm/descriptions.htm.
Customized Technology-based Programming
Trinity students also design custom programs that are both thematic and project-based. Working with community partners, themes are identified relative to their interests or missions and Trinity students then design multi-week technology programs based on the identified theme. For specific examples of our work, please click on Recent Projects to learn more about Trinfo's customized programs.
In addition to the customized programs, Trinfo offers topic specific technology programs that are designed to expand both technical skills as well as critical thinking skills associated with these topics. Trinfo offers multi-week programs in Financial Literacy, Media Literacy, and Digital Storytelling, which includes learning how to use digital audio and video production software.
Computer Recycling Center
Trinfo.Café began recycling and distributing refurbished computers in 2001. To date, the program has donated over 500 computers to neighborhood families. Donations come from a variety of institutions and residents, with the overwhelming number coming from the College itself.
A completely volunteer operation, the Recycling Center relies exclusively on Trinity students. Along with supervision from Trinfo.Cafe’s staff, these Trinity students spend several hours inventorying and refurbishing computers for the July and Decemer giveways. They also assist with distributing and educating recipients on how to properly connect and operate these systems.
Computer/Typing Program
The multi-week program, by Multi-Media, is a self-paced, interactive typing tutor. The software includes games to keep your interest, as well as typing tests and dictation lessons.
