Trinity Center for Neighborhoods
COMMUNITY-BASED RESEARCH

The Trinity Center for Neighborhoods accepts research questions from a variety of neighborhood groups and organizations.

The research questions are developed by community people to assist in strategic planning and problem solving.  Research projects are done by a team of Trinity College faculty and students.  Entire Trinity classes have been involved in large-scale research projects.  In addition, Alta Lash, the Director of TCN, oversees many students in independent studies.

Applied Research

Neighborhood residents frequently need to obtain information to address community issues -  the cost of health care or maintaining recreational space, for example.  They can request help from TCN, which provides research for many community organizations, including 16 problem-solving committees, one for each of the neighborhoods of Hartford.  Previous research projects have helped to establish job-training programs, promote health-care initiatives, and create small-business opportunities.  The research reports are available on our website.
