The Cities Data Center at Trinity College provides students with an opportunity to explore a wide range of issues associated with modern urban life. Focusing on the collection, transformation, analysis, and dissemination of data about the Hartford region and other urban areas, the Center works to connect local realities to global realities, strengthen quantitative research skills among Trinity College students and expand the range of collaborations that exist between the campus and the surrounding community.
In addition to data, the Cities Data Center helps students to develop a contextual framework for their research, a framework that numbers alone cannot provide. Students, in classes and working independently, rely on the Center as a source of ideas, topics, materials and data. Faculty across a wide range of disciplines have used the Center to prepare course materials and develop research projects and learning modules. In recent years, the Center has collaborated on a variety of projects with local government agencies, non-profit organizations, churches and advocacy groups.
