Office of International Programs

The Office of International Programs (OIP) is a critical part of the newly established Center for Urban and Global Studies (CUGS) at Trinity College. The OIP provides Trinity students with academically rigorous study away opportunities throughout the world, specifically targeting programs in world cities as part of Trinity’s emphasis on the urban and the global. These opportunities will enhance students’ liberal arts education through classroom learning and urban community engagement, preparing them to become intellectually curious and culturally informed global citizens who have a good understanding of key economic, political, environmental, and social problems facing the world today. The OIP also strives to provide quality support to incoming international students and scholars, assisting with immigration paperwork, cross-cultural adjustment, and successful academic and social integration into the Trinity and Hartford communities.

The OIP aims to provide advising and administrative support to Trinity students studying away and international students studying at Trinity that not only enables students to maximize learning and personal development, but coordinates and simplifies required administrative processes and paperwork. The OIP maintains an approved list of appropriate study away programs; develops and administers Trinity programs with a commitment to academic excellence, cultural integration, safety, and accessibility; and develops and maintains clear and consistent policies that maximize efficiency, minimize risks, and promote excellence.  Finally, the OIP aims to achieve these goals in light of a broader and integrated urban/global mission for Trinity.  To do so, the OIP will collaborate with a wide range of faculty and academic departments and programs to weave the study away experience into teaching, research, and engagement on campus and in Hartford.
