Campus Master Plan 2006
Science Facilities Planning

Trinity College has recently begun the process of planning for new science facilities. A new building will be constructed on the south end of campus and connected to the existing Math Computing and Engineering Center (MCEC), which will continue to house computer science, engineering and mathematics. Detailed planning is in progress and our broad goals for the building are to:

  • Capitalize on interdisciplinary opportunities by bringing departments together; this allows easier communication within existing interdisciplinary programs and projects and increases the chance for serendipitous interaction;
  • Recruit highly talented prospective science majors and increase the number of students studying science at Trinity;
  • Replace existing, dated facilities with modern, efficient, lower-maintenance buildings

 The mission for the new building is:

To position science and mathematics as a center of intellectual activity at Trinity College by creating a community of scholars among these disciplines.
