Benefits Information

Below is information on benefits currently provided by Trinity College for its employees.  It should not be construed as a contract.  Should any conflict arise between this information and our benefits plans, the benefit plans will govern in all cases.  Benefit plans are reviewed annually and may change from time to time.  More detailed information is available in the Human Resources Office.

Health Insurance Information

Trinity College offers health insurance coverage through Aetna.  Employees have the option of electing either an HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) or a POIS (Point of Service) Plan.  Below is information on both of the plans.  This information constitutes a Summary Plan Description.

Whether you elect the HMO or the POS, you are eligible for vision benefits.

Trinity contributes 75% of the premium of the lowest cost plan for full time employees (with an FTE of .75 to 1.0).  Employees are responsible for contributing the balance through payroll deduction.  Part time employees (with an FTE between .5 and .74) pay 50% of the premium.

Trinity employees may cover a same-sex domestic partner under the health and dental plans offered by the College.  Below is the College policy on same-sex domestic partners.

Dental Insurance Information

Dental Insurance is provided by either Delta Dental or CIGNA. The Delta plan allows you to visit any dentist (and over 80% of dentists in the Hartford area are in a Delta network), while the CIGNA plan requires that you visit a dentist in the CIGNA network in order to receive coverage.  Trinity contributes 75% of the premium for each plan.

Life and Long Term Disability Information

Trinity provides life insurance in the amount of one times your annual base salary, to a maximum of $50,000.  Employees may purchase up to $700,000 in supplemental life insurance at group rates.  Life insurance on a spouse/domestic partner and/or child/ren can also be purchased. 

LTD replaces 60% of your income with a maximum benefit of $250,000 per year.  These insurances are provided by the Standard.

Reimbursement Account Information

Trinity College Flexible Spending Accounts are administered by Aetna.  The FSA Control Number that you will need to file for reimbursement is 696788-010-000.  You can find additional information AetnaNavigator.com.  Please see the forms page for additional information.

Salary Reduction Agreement

Trinity also offers a Roth IRA.  Please contact Human Resources for more information.  Fidelity and ING are the vendors with this option.  TIAA-CREF will offer the Roth effective January 1, 2009. 

Trinity also offers employees the opportunity to purchase auto and homeowner's insurance at group rates either through payroll deduction or by setting up a debit from a checking account.  Information on this benefit is available in the Human Resources Department.

Tuition benefits are available to employees, spouses and eligible dependents if certain requirements are met.  Specific information on this benefit can be found in the Faculty Handbook or the Employee Handbook.
