Allison Read - Chaplain

Read comes to Trinity from Christ Church in Short Hills, New Jersey, where she was priest-in-charge, assuming the role and responsibilities of the rector after serving as assistant. At Christ Church in Short Hills, a parish of 400 households, Read was responsible for the conduct of worship and for spiritual leadership. She has a strong background in leading the growth of congregations through programs, worship and pastoral care.

Read holds a Masters of Divinity from Yale Divinity School where she was awarded the John A. Wade Prize for expository preaching. She also holds a diploma in Anglican Studies from the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, a Masters of Arts in Religion from Yale Divinity School, and a B.A. from the University of Virginia. She is Trinity’s eighth chaplain and the second woman to serve in that capacity.

Marwa Saied Aly - Muslim Chaplain

Chaplain Marwa Aly was born and raised in New York. Her parents are originally from Alexandria, Egypt and she also has two brothers. She graduated with honors from Fordham University with a double major in Philosophy and Middle Eastern Studies. She is currently working on her Master's in Islamic Studies and Christian-Muslim Relations and her Certification in Islamic Chaplaincy. Before working at Trinity College and Wesleyan University, she was the first Muslim Chaplain that served the Manhattanville College community located in Purchase, New York for a year and a half. While abroad studying in Egypt, she was given the chance to interview at Trinity and Wesleyan and is honored to be a part of both communities. Through her chaplaincy work, Chaplain Aly hopes that people will feel comfortable asking about Islam and Muslims and a rich, holistic approach can be manifested within the two campuses. Her office is located in the Muslim Prayer Room- South Summit 100. Drop in and say hello!

Garret Condon - Trinity Zen

Garret Condon, co-coordinator of the Trinity Zen Group, helped found the group in 1997. He is a longtime member and director of the New Haven Zen Center and became a Dharma Teacher in the Kwan Um School of Zen in 1997. A longtime health journalist, he now manages Hartford Hospital's website and is a graduate student in public health. He has an MA from Trinity College. He lives in West Hartford (another former Trinity grad student) and daughter.

Rev. Michael J. Dolan – Roman Catholic Chaplain

The Reverend Michael J. Dolan was ordained for the Archdiocese of Hartford in 1996.  He was graduated from Assumption College with a B.A. in History and earned a Masters of Divinity degree from Saint John Seminary with studies at Weston School of Theology, Boston College, Hartt School of Music and the Christian-Muslim Relations Program at Hartford Seminary.  Father Dolan has ministered at Iglesia Sanctissimo Sacramento in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, St. Vincent de Paul Church, East Haven, Connecticut, St.George Church in Guilford, St. Mary Church, Newington and as Priest Director of its parish school, as well as an Archdiocesan Master of Ceremonies, Tribunal Instructor and provided pastoral care at Cedar Crest Psychiatric Hospital located in Newington. He is the Director of Campus Ministry for the Archdiocese of Hartford and Vocation Director. He was appointed as a Commissioner for the State Election Enforcement Commission and as a Chaplain for the Connecticut State Police. He is also a member of the Continuing Formation and the Evangelization Committees of the Archdiocese of Hartford. His professional memberships include the CCMA and NCDVD.

John Elias - Trinity Zen

John Elias, co-coordinator of the Trinity Zen group, helped found the group in 1997. He is a longtime member of the New Haven Zen Center and became a Dharma teacher in 2004. John, a Vietnam War veteran, is a computer engineer. He and his wife live in Plainville.

Lisa Kassow - Director, Trinity Hillel

Lisa Pleskow Kassow lived in Jerusalem, Israel from 1978-1990, where she was a photojournalist. In 1991 she received the Simon Rockower Award for Excellence in Photojournalism.

Kassow returned to Trinity College as the first full-time Hillel director in 2000, a post she held part-time in 1992. Between 1994-2001 Kassow worked at the Greater Hartford Jewish Community Center (JCC) in West Hartford, Connecticut. During her tenure at the JCC, Kassow directed adult education and later assumed the post of director of arts, culture, and education. Kassow founded and for five years was the Director of the Hartford Jewish Film Festival, a program that Trinity co-sponsors. Kassow holds a BFA in art from Carnegie-Mellon University and is a graduate of the Beit Midrash program in West Hartford, Connecticut. In 2008, Kassow was the recipient of the Jewish Vision Award from the Charter Oak Cultural Center in Hartford, CT.

Ellen Dickinson—College Carillonneur

Ellen DickinsonEllen Dickinson discovered the carillon at Yale University, where she received a B.A. in Music and a master’s degree in organ from the Yale School of Music and Institute of Sacred Music.

As an undergraduate, Dickinson was co-chair and Summer Carillonneur of the Yale University Guild of Carillonneurs. She has attended the Summer Academy at the Netherlands Carillon School in Amersfoort, and in June 2000, she played an advancement recital to become a carillonneur member of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America (GCNA). She serves as GCNA vice president and as editor of its annual Bulletin. Dickinson has performed carillon concerts throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Dickinson currently serves as Yale University's carillon consultant and adviser. She is Director of Music at Norfield Congregational Church in Weston, Connecticut. In 2006, she co-founded the Jubilate Ringers, a community hand bell ensemble. She is the founding director of the Weston Summer Chorus and directed the Yale Summer Chorus for five seasons.

Rev. Willis McCaw - Trinity College Gospel Church

Reverend McCaw was ordained in April of 2007. More importantly, Reverend McCaw is called, anointed, appointed, filled with the Holy Spirit, on fire for the Lord and has a heart and passion to live and preach the gospel. He firmly believes that effective ministry serves as a bridge linking the love of God with the needs of people. A native of Connecticut, Reverend McCaw received a BA in History from Central Connecticut State University, where he graduated magna cum laude in December 2003. In May 2008, he graduated from Yale Divinity School with a Master of Divinity Degree.

Over the past eight years, Reverend McCaw has worked diligently in the ministry, specializing in youth ministry and Christian education. He is a member of Faith Center Church in Meriden, Connecticut, led by Senior Pastor and Founder Bishop Joseph J. Norfleet, where he also serves as Sunday School Superintendent. As chaplain of the Gospel Church of Trinity College, Reverend McCaw provides a pastoral presence and counsels students on spiritual matters as they encounter new challenges on their faith journeys. He envisions life as a developmental journey with many destinations along the path. Everything that God has invested in Reverend McCaw, he seeks to reinvest in others.

In 2002, Reverend McCaw was united in holy matrimony to the former Miss Melissa Moore, who continues to be a loving and encouraging support to his ministry. Recently, the couple welcomed their first child, Jordan Willis on December 23, 2007.

John Rose – College Organist and Director of Chapel Music

Trinity College Organist John Rose has performed in forty-four of the United States and in nine other countries on four continents. Performances at home have included Orchestra Hall in Chicago, Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, The Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Bushnell Hall in Hartford, and the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City. Performance venues abroad have included Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral in London, Morelia Cathedral in Mexico and Town Hall in Melbourne, Australia. This past season he performed at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and The International Organ Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Since 1977 Mr. Rose has been College Organist and Director of Chapel Music at Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut where he also directs The trinity College Chapel Singers. Before coming to Trinity spent nine years as Organist and Music Director at Sacred Heart Cathedral Basilica in Newark, New Jersey. Among several noted composers who have dedicated works to him is Malcolm Williamson, Master of the Queen's Music to H.M. Elizabeth II of Great Britain, American composer Robert Edward Smith, Trinity College Chapel composer in residence, and the late American composer, Louie White. Mr. Rose records for Towerhill Recordings.

Robert Edward Smith, College Composer-In-Residence

Robert Edward Smith has been Trinity College composer in residence since 1979. Mr. Smith is a widely published composer of choral and instrumental works. A substantial number of his choral compositions have been commissioned by the college and first performed by The Trinity College Chapel Singers. In addition to his work as a composer, Mr. Smith is also a widely acclaimed concert harpsichordist. He has recorded for both the Wild Boar and Towerhill labels.  Mr. Smith has served as Composer in Residence at Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  He has been the Administrator of the Trinity College Summer Chamber Music Series since 1998.
