| RESIDENT ASSISTANT POSITION SUMMARY |
The Campus Life program at Trinity seeks to provide a residential setting which fosters the intellectual, social, and personal development of resident students. Resident Assistants are student staff members who provide campus and community information, programming within the residence halls, peer advice and counsel, and assistance with administrative and community living matters. As with any live-in residential life position, Resident Assistants serve as role models and should be available to students for informal counsel, guidance and support.
Specific areas include:
• helping to establish a floor/ hall community
• assisting individual student needs
• helping to maintain community standards
• helping to maintain a safe and clean living environment
• ensuring communication to and from their floor
• participating in all department efforts, programs, and events
• upholding College Policies and Residential Guidelines
Resident Assistants are assigned to one of 24-staffed residences ranging in capacity from 40 to 160. RAs work directly with approximately 35 resident students. R.A. responsibilities should average 15 hours per week.
Eligibility
Continuing Trinity undergraduate students who anticipate a full academic year of study on the Hartford campus are eligible to apply. In order to lend yourself fully to the position, you must have a stable academic record. We define this as not being on any current level of academic probation. Exceptions are made only in the case of students placed on their first semester of academic warning. To be a role model of community standards, we also require that you not be on any current level of disciplinary probation. Past judicial record is also considered as criteria for employment. Hiring preference is given to candidates entering their junior or senior year of study. If you have questions about this policy and how it may relate to you, please contact the Office of Campus Life.
NOTE:
RAs must return to campus approximately two weeks prior to the start of the fall semester and approximately three days prior to the start of the spring semester, must keep Wednesday evenings free for staff commitments, participate in fall and spring training activities, and must be prepared to remain on campus until the close of each term. The exact dates of the above meetings will be available before contracts are signed.
