Bantam Teams Tour Construction Site

With their seasons behind them, members of the men’s and women’s ice hockey teams recently found time for a short tour of the CSC construction site.  Eighteen players made their way across New Britain Avenue while construction workers took their lunch breaks.  Project Superintendent Jim Nardi explained the progress that has been made as players stood in the very spot their future home ice will be located.

Players were particularly interested to see where the bleachers will be.  “To have a rink on campus is going to help us so much,” says junior forward Liz Johnson.  “All my friends have told me they can’t wait to come to our home games next year.”

Johnson says that ice hockey has been a major focus of her Trinity experience, a sentiment echoed by players on both squads.  All were thrilled that the CSC, so long a dream of Bantam players, is becoming a reality.  “To see the construction in person meant more than seeing the plans on paper,” said first-year defenseman Shawn Donaher.  “All the guys are very excited that we will have a place to call our own and to represent the pride we and all the alumni of Trinity hockey have.”

Players unable to join the tour will have another chance to visit the site at a later date.

Imagining the score board   Jim Nardi answers questions

Kelley McCarthy and Greg Camarco gaze up at the steel rafters where the scoreboard - and perhaps future championship banners - will one day hang.

Project Superintendent Jim Nardi listens to a question from one of the players.

At the south end   One last question

Jim Nardi explains work being done at the south end of the building, where mechanicals, such as the refrigeration unit, will one day be located.

As the group prepares to leave, Megan Fallon, fourth from left, has one last question for Jim Nardi.

Waiting for next season   The tour over

Shawn Donaher, Chris Powers, Simon Dionne, Greg Camarco, and Derek Chase stand outside the CSC.  Progress on the outer wall can be seen to the left.

Courtney Bergh, Tara Borawski, and Lila Claghorn come out what will be the main entrance.
