At Trinity, where over half of the students on campus take part in sports, athletics play an important role in a well-rounded liberal arts education.  Whether students choose to play on a varsity intercollegiate team, participate in organized intramural sports, or just want to stay in shape, Trinity has dedicated its athletics program to scholar-athletes, who can shine in any and all aspects of campus life.

Sports have always been a part of the Trinity experience – some of our teams have been around since the 19th century: our students established a competitive rowing club in 1856; organized baseball came to campus just after the Civil War; and we have had a basketball team since 1896.

As a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), Trinity competes against the preeminent Division III schools in the country.  Last season, Trinity varsity teams won a tenth straight national championship title in men's squash, the Division III National Championship in baseball, the women's rowing won a Varsity Eight National Title, and the men's rowing won the ECAC National Title. Trinity teams captured five NESCAC Championships, and our men's golf team won the ECAC Championship.  Both men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams had national qualifiers, and six Bantam teams qualified for the NCAA Championships.
