At Trinity, where over half of the students on campus take part in sports, athletics play an important role in a well-rounded liberal arts education.  Whether students choose to play on a varsity intercollegiate team, participate in organized intramural sports, or just want to stay in shape, Trinity has dedicated its athletics program to scholar-athletes, who can shine in any and all aspects of campus life.

Sports have always been a part of the Trinity experience – some of our teams have been around since the 19th century: our students established a competitive rowing club in 1856; organized baseball came to campus just after the Civil War; and we have had a basketball team since 1896.

As a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), Trinity competes against the preeminent Division III schools in the country.  Last season, Trinity varsity teams won a ninth straight national championship title in men's squash, regional and/or league championships in golf, men's cross country, women’s squash, men’s track and field, women’s track and field, and men’s rowing, and qualified for the NCAA Tournament in men’s cross country, men’s basketball, baseball, women’s lacrosse, and women’s rowing.
