The Trinity College Chapel provides an extraordinary space for music at worship services, college occasions, and concerts.
Chapel
music has deep roots in the life of Trinity College. The Chapel
Singers is the oldest student organization on campus. “The Chapel
Singers is a diverse group of students from a variety of religious and
secular backgrounds who enjoy singing challenging music with friends in
the Chapel’s excellent acoustics,” says John Rose, College Organist and
director of Chapel Music.
Today, Chapel Music encompasses an
active schedule of music for sacred services, a wide variety of
concerts, and teaching programs for carillon, organ students, and
singers.
“We are fortunate that the Chapel houses two
magnificent pipe organs,” adds Rose. “The main Chapel organ was built by
the Austin Organ Company of Hartford and contains nearly 5,000 pipes.
Many of the world’s most prominent organists have performed on the
organ. In addition, the Crypt Chapel has a mechanical (tracker) organ
made by the renowned English pipe organ builder Nicholson & Co.”
