Summertime, and the Trinity Chapel is home to two of the area’s most treasured musical series: the Trinity College Summer Chamber Music Series and the Plum Memorial Carillon Recital Series.
The concerts will begin on Wednesday, June 29 and run through Wednesday, August 3 this summer. There will be more information posted shortly.
Chamber Music Series
The Chamber Music Series, which began in 1974, is currently under the direction of Robert Edward Smith, Trinity College Chapel composer in residence. Funded through private contributions, this music series presents an outstanding concert program of regional, national, and international chamber music ensembles to the Hartford music audience. All are welcome to attend these concerts in the Chapel each Wednesday at six o’clock in the evening.
The Carillon Series complements the Chamber Music series, with a carillon concert immediately following each chamber music program. Concertgoers convene outside the Chapel on the quadrangle to listen to the music of the 49-bell carillon, one of approximately 200 such instruments in North America. Many fans of the carillon series enjoy bringing picnic suppers to these outdoor concerts.
