Trinity Zen
The Trinity Zen Group, founded in 1997, is a twice-weekly Zen Buddhist sitting group co-sponsored by the New Haven Zen Center and the Trinity College Chapel. People of all faiths - and no faith - are invited to learn and practice a centuries-old form of meditation that is both simple and profound. The group meets at 7 p.m. each Thursday evening during the academic year - except during weeks of major holidays. Newcomers should arrive at 6:30 for instruction and orientation and should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes. Thursday night practice consists of five minutes of group chanting, a half-hour of Zen sitting meditation, a short reading and refreshments. There is also a meeting at 7 p.m. on Mondays that follows the same schedule; however, meditation instruction is not offered on Mondays.

In addition to weekly practice the group also sponsors one-day retreats and occasional special events. Regular participants include both members of the Trinity College community and residents of central Connecticut. All are welcome and there is no fee.
