Religious and Spiritual Life
Overview

In its many and varied forms, the religious life programs at Trinity College are designed to balance, complement and strengthen the college's commitment to be a place of intellectual inquiry and a community of diverse people. We believe that the life of the spirit goes hand in hand with the life of the mind, and serves as a vital link to the process of discovery and growth that is so much a part of the larger dimensions of collegiate life.

At Trinity, you will find as many religious groups as kinds of people, and our goal is to help students from a variety of traditions find spiritual strength and community support in the programs that are offered. You will also find a warm reception whether you are a strong practitioner of your faith or one who is deeply questioning of it.

Standing at the center of the campus is the Trinity College Chapel, one of the most magnificent buildings of its kind in the United States. It stands as a living and active symbol of Trinity's historic commitment to questions of the heart and soul, within the framework of a liberal arts tradition. However, the many forms of religious expression found at Trinity reach far beyond the confines of this building.

As you enter into life at Trinity, we invite you to consider how one or a number of these religious groups such as those listed in the left column can enhance your time at college, allow you both to understand your own traditions better as well as develop a greater awareness of the wideness of religious expression found in our world today, and challenge you to find a way by which you can grow beyond yourself to be of genuine service to others.

While religious expression at Trinity is highly diverse, all of these groups have many things in common: a commitment to being a community of particularity while being citizens of a pluralistic world, the presence of caring adults -- as chaplains, advisors, or fellow participants -- who are available for pastoral help and counseling or simply friendly conversation, the strong involvement of students in the planning and holding of services and programs, and a love of fellowship, food, and fun!
