The Muslim Students Association at Trinity College is a newly formed organization on campus that seeks to build a welcoming atmosphere for Muslim students while actively participating in interfaith and outreach activities.
Muslim students gather every weekly to offer Friday prayers, study the Qur’an together, and to participate in community building programs. Muslim students are active in the interfaith community by taking part in interfaith dialogue, works and commemorative ceremonies. In the future, the MSA plans on organizing more social events, such as hiking, sports, movies, and other fun activities. Students also plan on putting together a series of events that will seek to educate the broader campus community about the Islamic faith and Muslim culture through events such as Islam Awareness Week.
Trinity College is one of the only educational institutions in the entire country that have an employed Muslim Chaplain who offers ministry, counseling, teaching, interfaith planning, and student advocacy for students of the Islamic faith and other students interested in learning about Islam on campus.
For more information about Muslim activities on campus, please contact Trinity’s Muslim Chaplain, Sohaib Sultan at ssultan1980@hotmail.com or MSA student organizer, Shahzad Ahmed ‘08 at Shahzad.Ahmed@trincoll.edu.
