A major renovation of the chapel launched in the spring of 2002 has resulted in dramatic improvements to this historic campus landmark.
The urgency of the project was illuminated by Anthony J. Segreti, the superintending architect for the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., who conducted a survey and reported on the condition of Trinity’s chapel in March of 2000. In his report, Segreti confirmed widespread deterioration in the chapel pointing, masonry, and roofing system. Segreti estimated that an 18-month period of continuous construction at a cost of $5 million was needed to complete the repair. The College launched a vigorous campaign to fund the costs for this critical restoration project and subsequently raised $1.2 million from the family members of a Trinity student.
